        詳情見附件。two post-doc or researcher positions in marine hydrodynamics and ocean engineering are available at the state key laboratory of coastal and offshore engineering, dalian university of technology (dut).

        the posts are funded for 24 months with the possibility of extension to 48 months. the annual salary starts from¥200,000 (roughly equivalent to£22,000) to¥400,000 based on the candidate's academic background and achievements. the projects offer attractive discounted housing and working condition. the project will also cover the full cost of attending conferences and professional meetings.

        position a: postdoctoral research fellow in theoretical and experimental wave-structure interaction

        the project is concerned with theoretical and experimental studies on wave-structure interaction problems. your research will focus on the interaction of nonlinear water waves with rigid and elastic bodies, with application in offshore renewable energy. you will study these problems by use of the nonlinear wave equations, and by higher order boundary element method and other numerical methods. you will also contribute to conducting laboratory experiments at dut. in addition, you will contribute to outreach, networking and disseminating activities through conference and journal publications

        position b: postdoctoral research fellow in modelling and experimental analysis of floating offshore wind turbines

        this is part of a comprehensive project on design and analysis of novel floating offshore wind turbines. in this post, you will lead laboratory experiments on wind, wave and current loads on novel floating offshore wind turbines. the experiments will be conducted at dut. the focus of this part of the project is on the load measurements and motion analysis of the novel platform to various combinations of the environmental loads and mooring configurations. loads and load effects on a floating wind turbine will be assessed from a life-time perspective with due consideration of various phases (operational, parked and fault conditions) that it would experience. the goal is to develop design methods for floating wind turbine structures.

        persons specification

        applicants should have a phd or equivalent research experience and otherwise fulfil the requirements given for the position. a suitable background would be marine technology, ocean engineering, mechanical engineering, or wind engineering, especially within disciplines such as structural dynamics, hydro- and aero-dynamics, wind turbine or (for position a) wave energy converter analysis. previous research experience on analytical, computational, and experimental marine hydrodynamics, is highly desirable. candidates must demonstrate high academic potential and achievement. enthusiasm for research, an ability to think and work independently, and strong english verbal and written communication skills are essential requirements.

        the positions are hosted at dalian university of technology. the state key laboratory of coastal and offshore engineering (slcoe) of dut has been continuously a leading top institute in ocean engineering in china and internationally. dut is recognized internationally for its outstanding contribution to theoretical and experimental hydrodynamics. the physical laboratory facilities of dut are among the top in the world, including the deep-water basin, waves tanks, the towing tank, and state of the art instruments.
